MSG Monosodium Glutamate
This carcinogenic substance is found in most processed foods. Reactions to MSG are not allergic reactions. Even if you don’t feel a reaction after eating MSG your body is still being poisoned by it. Other people get sore tongues, sore throats, migraines etc. MSG is a sodium salt of Glutamic Acid, an amino acid. Inits synthesized form which is used as a food additive it acts as an excitatory neurotransmitter or excitotoxin. It causes the nerve cells to disharge an electrical impulse and that’s the basis of its use as a flavor enhancer. It enhances flavor and aroma and suppresses undesirable “off”flavors such as bitterness, sourness and tinny flavor of canned food.
Things that have MSG: Accent, autolyzed yeast, bouillon, barley malt, broth, natural flavorings, glutavene, glutacyl, hydroloyzed vegetable protein, hydrolyzed milk protein, RL-50, textured protein, Spices, Spike just to name a few of the thousands of products. This is another excellent reason for not shopping in super markets and eating commercial, processed, canned, packaged, fake food. Most restaurants use a lot of MSG. Avoid packaging for environmental reasons and for health reasons. If you have to eat out get steamed or raw things with no sauces or dressings. Use lemon and olive oil instead.
